Description
Nuptse(7,855m) is located at Southwest of Mt Everest in the Khumbu Himal. The name Nup-tse is derived from the Tibetan language that means West-peak which is the Western part of the Massif Lhotse-Nuptse. Its main ridge is separated from Lhotse by a 7,556m high saddle and it is crowned by 7 peaks and goes West-Northwest until its steep west face drops down more than 2,300m to the Khumbu glacier.The steep and rocky South face of Nuptse is 2,500m high and 5 km wide. The North slopes are rising from the Western- Cwm valet with the upper part of the Khumbu glacier above its popular ice fall. The main summit of Nuptse(7,861m) was ascended by Dennis Davis and Tashi Sherpa on May 16, 1961 by the north-ridge part( called as Scoot-route).
